Walt Disney Pictures has reported that Marvel’s The Avengers is expected to cross the $1 billion global box office mark today on May 13, its 19th day in release! It will be the first Marvel film and fifth Disney release to reach $1 billion.

Domestically, the Joss Whedon action adventure added $103.2 million, which is the foremost time in history that a film has crossed the $100 million mark its second weekend after Marvel’s The Avengers shattered records with a $207.4 million opening weekend. Internationally, “The Avengers” earned $95.4 million this weekend. The film has earned an estimated $373.2 million now in North America and $628.9 million overseas for a worldwide total of $1,002.1 million.As one of only 12 films in history to gross $1 billion, it joins Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on Disney’s list of billion-dollar films.

Internationally, “The Avengers” began opening April 25 and is the biggest opening weekend of all time in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Central America, Peru, Bolivia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, and United Arab Emirates. “The Avengers” has now opened in all major markets except Japan (August 17).

“We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of ‘The Avengers,’” revealed Robert A. Iger, Disney’s Chairman and CEO. “It’s a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come.”

On May 8, Disney had announced that a sequel to Marvel’s The Avengers was in development, following last month’s announcement that a follow-up to 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger will be released April 4, 2014. A sequel to last summer’s Thor is scheduled for release November 15, 2013, and the third installment of the hit “Iron Man” series, which has earned over $1.2 billion worldwide, will arrive in theaters May 3, 2013.

Marvel’s The Avengers is the first Marvel Studios film to be marketed and distributed by The Walt Disney Studios.

Fox has announced on Monday that Parker, who is going to be making her first return to television since Sex and the City, and Hudson, who probably just starred in another romantic comedy in the span of this sentence, will both appear in Season 4 of the Emmy-winner But that probably doesn’t mean Carrie Bradshaw is moving to Lima, Ohio, where the “Glee” cast has been attending McKinley High School for the past three years.

A number of cast members are graduating and heartrending to New York, including Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer).

While there are no details about whom Parker is going to play or how long she’ll be on the series (Hudson, however, is slated for a six-episode arc) we have some belief on what these stars should do during their visit to celebrity destination hotspot McKinley High. Since both stars have a musical background (Parker previously appeared on Broadway in shows like Annie and Once Upon A Mattress and Hudson starred in the movie adaptation of the musical Nine) they should have no problem knocking out these numbers

Reilly said the show will include “a number” of high-profile guest stars, with more to be announced.”Glee” has had well-known female guest stars over the years, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin Chenoweth and, on Tuesday’s episode, Lindsay Lohan. Reilly not yet revealed the details on what characters Parker or Hudson would be playing. Some of the stars have played themselves.

On the heels of yesterday’s word that Rooney Mara nabbed the lead role in Spike Jonze’s next film, the actress who is currently shooting Steven Sodebergh‘s Bitter Pill has been attached to another drama. Coming off her Oscar nomination for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara is looking to star in Brooklyn, adapted from Colm Toibin‘s novel by Nick Hornby (About a Boy).

The film is going to be produced by those behind An Education, including screenwriter Hornby and his wife Amanda Posey, who runs the outfit Wildgaze with Finola Dwyer. The coming-of-age film will see Mara play a young Irish woman who heads to the New York City borough for a new life. After her dark role in David Fincher‘s film, it will be nice to see Mara handle something a bit more standard.

Rooney, best known known for her title role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, next appears in Steven Soderbergh’s The Bitter Pill. In the Jonze project, she would appear opposite Amy Adams, Samantha Morton and Joaquin Phoenix.

According to Deadline report, Warner Bros. is planning a big screen remake of the 1974 comedy Uptown Saturday Night. They’ve set Adam McKay as director for this, Though he is currently busy writing the script for the long-awaited sequel to Anchorman with Will Ferrell (thank the Maker!), it appears he’s lining up a fairly ambitious project as his follow-up to Anchorman 2. Actually the project (Uptown Saturday Night) has been in development for years with Will Smith and Denzel Washington attached to star, but the addition of McKay makes the remake all the more enticing.

The original film, directed by starred Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby two friends who go to an uptown nightclub on a Saturday night.  While at the club, masked bandits rob the patrons and ask everyone to strip down to their underwear.  The next day, Poitier’s character learns that he has won the lottery, but the winning ticket is in his stolen wallet.  The remainder of the film finds the two scrambling to track down the winning ticket.

The original featured a bevy of famous faces, including Richard Pryor and Harry Belafonte, and it’s not that much of hard to imagine a pretty terrific remake in the hands of McKay.  Moreover, the team-up of Smith and Washington is incredibly promising.  In the original, Poitier was reluctant to go to the nightclub in the first place, so some fantastic comedic chemistry could be mined from the duo.

Deadline reports that the actors aren’t officially signed on yet, but if McKay develops an exciting draft of the script I don’t imagine the two passing this up. David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) was previously attached to direct, but I think McKay is an inspired choice to take the helm. Anchorman 2 doesn’t shoot until early 2013, so McKay definitely has some time to fine-tune the Uptown Saturday Night remake before he gets wrapped up in the Anchorman production. Though neither Smith nor Washington is confirmed to star, Smith’s own Overbook Entertainment is producing the project and the pair was previously linked to the property last year.

If you enjoyed last year’s paranormal thriller Grave Encounters, it is sure that you will be thrilled to know that a sequel – appositely titled Grave Encounters 2 - is moving into pre-production and going to come in front of you soon to buzz once more.

Here, the Vicious Brothers are back to direct and this time the film follows a group of film students who break into the hospital from the first film to do their own supernatural investigation and everyone who are going to enjoy this film, quickly they will realize that Grave Encounters was not just a movie and of course it was real.

So, the film is taking a meta approach that suggests the first entry was a film released on DVD (after playing to Tribeca Film Festival audiences) and fans of that film venture out to the location and, as mentioned in the synopsis, find real panic.

With production nearing an end on J.J. Abrams’ much-anticipated (and still officially untitled) Star Trek 2 is nearing a wrap on principal photography, with the cast and crew working towards a May 17, 2013 release date, returning star Chris Pine and newcomer villain Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the unnamed villain in this sequel, recently spoke about the production, showering praise upon his director, J.J. Abrams.

“Of course, what I’m going to tell you that I think it’s going to be better,” Pine laughs, “You pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters, I think, is just as exciting as the first one… And it’s relentless. I think that’s the best adjective I can use.”
As far as Cumberbatch’s role, the “Sherlock” star only teased the faintest of details. “I’ve gone up two sizes, which suit” he said, “The character, which I’m playing, i.ehe’s strong. I can say that much.  So I’ve changed my physique a bit, so that requires eating like a foie gras goose, well beyond your appetite, And, providing I don’t feel too ill, I then work out two hours a day with a phenomenal trainer. It’s the L.A. way.”
Star Trek 2 comes to theaters May 17th, 2013 and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, and(or XII, depending on how you’re counting), is planning a 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D release.

If the pooled team-up of Iron Man – Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and the Hulk, isn’t enough to get you into a theater next weekend, prepare to throw Batman and Spider-Man into the mix. Director Marc Webb has confirmed on Attack of the Show that that a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man will be joining the previously announced trailer for The Dark Knight Rises before Joss Whedon‘s ensemble comics movie- The Avengers, beginning Friday, May 4th. Webb said that it was likely that the trailer would probably arrive online before The Avengers opens in cinemas.

The Amazing Spider-Man, meanwhile, is set for release on July 3rd and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Directed by Marc Webb, the film arrives with a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
The news comes on the heels of the announcement that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are coming on board to work on the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the continuation of the Webb film’s viral campaign, the latest message from which was just cracked over at SuperHeroHype.

“I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth,” Beyonce, the 30-year-old singer, who has welcomed her first child, daughter Blue Ivy, with husband Jay-Z 42, on Jan. 7 , says in an exclusive interview with the magazine. “I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth.”

While she did come out with the album, 4, in 2011, for Beyoncé, motherhood trumps any other achievement. “She’s just the cutest thing,” the proud mama gushes. “She’s her own person.”Beyonce is so head-over-heels in love with her little girl that she even claims to “love” changing Blue’s diapers. She also sings original songs to her little star. “She’s just the cutest thing,” the 30-year-old gushes. “The word ‘love’ means something completely different now.”

This is the ninth time Beyonce has made the magazine’s Most Beautiful People list, but her first time on the cover of the special issue. Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman are the other stars, who are appearing in the issue this time around include veterans (who have made the list 13 times and 10 times, respectively) as well as “Mad Men” breakout star Jessica Pare. Some of the fellas featured are David Beckham, Blake Shelton and Ashton Kutcher.

Charlie Kaufman may not be the obvious choice to adapt a young adult trilogy being tipped as the basis for the next Hunger Games, but he is certainly a disquieting one. The maverick screenwriter and director, whose previous work includes transforming the non-fiction book The Orchid Thief into the mind-bending, Oscar-nominated Adaptation, has been hired by a Hollywood studio to take on the first book in Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking trilogy.

Lions gate, which owns rights to both the Twilight and Hunger Games series, has announced, through Deadline, plans to adapt the Patrick Ness Chaos Walking trilogy of novels for the screen. What’s more, they’ve attached screenwriting auteur Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) to provide the screenplay for the first book, The Knife of Never Letting Go. Released in 2008, that book is officially described as follows:
Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. But Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets.

The project marks a departure for Kaufman, who has previously focused mostly on offbeat indie material, often working with the director Spike Jonze and latterly taking the director’s reins on his own projects. However, the screenwriter – who won an Oscar for best original screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – may be less averse to taking on commercial work than one might previously have imagined. Empire online says he has done uncredited rewrite work on several big budget films, including Kung Fu Panda 2.

The Chaos Walking trilogy, which is written by London-based US author Ness, has been widely praised by critics since the first instalment appeared in 2008. The Knife of Never Letting Go won the Guardian children’s fiction prize in 2008 and the final book in the series, Monsters of Men, won the Carnegie medal last year. The middle novel is titled The Ask and the Answer.

Disney /Pixar have released the full new trailer and clip for Brave, the latest animated fairytale and giving us our clearest look at the Highland adventure so far.  And it is coming to 3D and 2D theaters on June 22.

The Adventure was directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman. Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland, In Pixar’s Brave, a Scottish adventure about a red-haired princess named Merida and her family, and three brothers. Kelly Macdonald voices Merida; Emma Thompson voices the Queen, and Billy Connolly the King. Already we’ve seen many trailers and cassette for this, and while I’m always going to go see every Pixar movie, it looks that they’ve been hiding a lot of where the real story goes in Brave, including something involving those bears. Now it looks like Pixar magic yet again!

Here in this Fairytale, Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
