An upcoming movie starring a team of Navy SEALs performing covert operations and staging surprising assaults may seem like just another Hollywood action thriller, but there’s a twist — the men seen in uniform are real active-duty Navy SEALs.

“Act of Valor,” due out on Feb. 24, began as a recruiting video for the SEALs and while the plot  is fictional, it’s as close to the truth as you can come. Scenes of high-impact surprise assaults are based on real life missions.

“Very strange to go from real world missions where the consequences are as high as there can be in anything in the world to one where you get to walk away from it,” said Lt. Commander Rorke, who stars in the film.

Rorke has been a SEAL for 13 years, and his experiences with his fellow SEALs offers a firsthand look into how these stealthy commandos operate. In one scene, the SEALs are preparing to grab a hostage and move silently underwater, unseen, until they are ready to make a move.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Because the movie is a romance, it is considered a ‘chick-flick,’ though any respectable man could see it and have dignity. It has been reviewed as “a great date movie,” however anyone would greatly gain from watching it. The packed theaters are proof enough.

Unfortunately, the movie was relatively predictable and not at all suspenseful. For those who enjoy said movies, then this was a five star rating. For those who do not enjoy such movies, however, the movie would rate three stars minimum. With the underlying morals and the A-list actors, the movie was very good for people of all ages and gender. I highly recommend seeing it.  Source

The site, which is still in the closed beta phase till later this year, was developed by Backplane, a small start-up dedicated to online community-building. It seems like an ideal partnership for the pop singer, who is already an investor in the company. Her manager, Troy Carter, also happens to be one of its four founding members.
